You might remember Felix Baugartner, the crazy daredevil who jumped from the “edge of space”back in 2012. Though the historic jump from Earth’s stratosphere was almost a year and a half ago, new footage was just released.
It shows a perspective not yet seen before in its entirety: his.

“Ok, Joe, I’m ready,” Baumgartner said.
Are you?
“Alright, stand up on the exterior step, keep your head down and our guardian angel will take care of you,” Joe Kittinger, who first tried to break the sound barrier from 19.5 miles up in 1960, said.
“I wish you could see what I can see,” Baumgartner said.
Now, you can.

Take a vicarious leap from the outer edges of Earth’s atmosphere just by watching Baumgartner’s point-of-view footage (Note: skip to two minutes in to get to the action):
The footage shows some of the peace of the free fall but also some of the terror. At one point, Baumgartner said he had been in a “violent spin for a long time” and felt like he was going to pass out. It also shows the victorious moment when he broke the sound barrier traveling 128,000 feet back to Earth and then returned to the ground safely.
Seven HERO2 GoPro cameras on Baumgartner captured the footage.

For me just standing on a step ladder is scary. I can’t imagine doing what Felix did.
